Components
Academic Component
The academic component accounts for more than 68% of a university's overall score during the Jeux du Commerce. There are 10 cases (representing the majority of commerce disciplines), a debate competition as well as a stock simulation competition.
Case : In three hours in teams of three people, the students must analyse and solve a case, as well as prepare a 20 minute presentation for the judges. They present their analysis in front of a panel of business professionals and commerce professors. The presentation is judged on the quality of the analysis, the recommendation as well as the presentation. The content of the academic case is made to efficiently represent the current market realities.
In 2013, another academic case format will be applied to the Strategy and International Business cases. This formula is called “Cas 2.0”. The preparation time goes from 3 to 4 hours, and teams are given two computers, one of which has internet access. Furthermore, the company on which the case is written has the opportunity to give additional or different information to the teams during the preparation.
For the presentation, teams will have 12 minutes of protected introduction time, followed by 10 minutes during which judges will have the opportunity to ask questions about the topic being currently discussed. The presentation finishes with a two minute protected conclusion and a four minute question and answer period.
Debate : A team of four students take the position of either the government or the opposition in order to debate a Canadian political issue, all while following the time directives.
Stock Simulation : During a stock simulation that represents 2 years (8 quarters), a team of 4 students must buy and sell stocks. The teams must properly evaluate their assets in order to properly react to the market.

Athletic Component
The athletic component holds a particular importance since it encourages the balance between a healthy mind in a healthy body. It represents 18 points in the overall evaluation of a delegation. The athletic component is made up of three activities, each of which is worth 6 points.
Social Component
The social component is made up of a wide diversity of activities that will attempt to, as a majority, incorporate the notions of socializing and teamwork. It is complementary to the academic and athletic components as it adds a variety of activities that can satisfy all tastes. This component represents 6 points in the overall evaluation of a delegation.
Participation and Contribution Components
The participation component considers two main aspects of the presnce of the delegations : implication and respect. The implication of a delegation consists of the positive impact a delegation has on the success of the competition. This includes the support brought forth to ensure the proper execution of the competition, the active presence of the participants, the team spirit at the games and the efforts to mae the « Spirit of the Games » brought to life (originality, collaboration, solidarity, etc.). The contribution component implies that delegations put together one or more activities within their community that enable them to put forth the values on which the Jeux du Commerce are founded. Universities are recognized for their efforts within their community; up to three universities will be thanked for their outstanding contribution during the gala.
