The HEC Montréal delegation of 84 BBA students took first place overall at the 25th Jeux du commerce, held at the School from January 4 to 6, and earned the Patrice Bourbonnais trophy. The award is named for the HEC Montréal graduate who launched the games, in 1989, and has been presented to the top university every year since 2003.
The School’s delegation, which was coached by the HEC Montréal Competitions Committee and guest professor René Gendreau (Marketing), placed highly in several events. In addition to taking gold for rugby, silver for participation and bronze for the social component, the HEC Montréal delegation made it to the podium for no fewer than seven other events in the academic competitions.
It is followed by UQAM's Ecole des Siences de Gestion who came 2nd and John Molson School of Business finishing 3rd.

- Publié le Lundi, 10 Septembre 2012 12:36
Summer RÉFAEC is over and we are once again happy to have met those representing their schools at the Jeux du Commerce table.
This visit to Abitibi-Témiscamingue was heartwarming and everybody appreciated the numerous conversations and exchanges that took place. Highlighted by a conference on the region, the weekend opened our eyes to the different realities with which schools are faced.
More thane ver, the JDC25 committee is motivated to help the participant universities to develop and we will try, with future organizing committees, to work on the universities having a harder reality’s development. These efforts will notably take the form of guides as well as tips and tricks concerning communications with the various involved university faculties.
To conclude, the JDC25 organizing committee was pleasantly surprised to learn the extent to which the delegations, even though they are facing adversity, are staying confident and are working for the development of the Jeux du Commerce in their respective institutions, knowing that their efforts will mostly pay off in the future. This progressive vision is the reason for which we are still involved in the Jeux du Commerce and we are happy to see this passion present in our delegates.

Although the spring RÉFAEC has been over for a few weeks now, we still wanted to highlight the fact that we are very happy to have met all of the incoming and outgoing executives from each school. BINGO!
The table was intense with the academic component and its 2.0 cases, the unveiling of the sports as well the organization for the contribution component. As a reminder, the three sports that will be featured are indoor volleyball, ultimate on snow and touch rugby on snow.
It is to be noted that a slight change has affected the 2.0 cases. Teams will now have Internet access on one of the two computers, which opens many possibilities. You have many months to learn to maximize the potential of this new tool!
We are already looking forward to seeing you at the next RÉFAEC! Have a great summer and we hope to bump into you during the various summer activities!
Return on RÉFAEC – The 2.0 Cases

At the January 2013 RÉFAEC held at UQTR, the Jeux du Commerce 25 Organizing Committee (CO JDC25) proposed to actualize the academic cases so that they more accurately reflect current business realities. Thanks to a great collaboration from each university's representatives, the Jeux du Commerce council arrived to a concensus.
The CO JDC 25 is happy to announce major changes to the case structure of two academic cases, which we call the 2.0 Cases. This structure applies to the Strategy and International Business cases.
The preparation period goes from three to four hours, and instead of having one computer to work with, teams will now have two computers. Furthermore, the company will have the opportunity to give information to the teams during the case preparation.
Also, the presentation format has changed. Instead of the classic 20 minute presentation followed by a 5 minute question and answer period, teams will now have 12 minutes of protected introduction time, followed by 10 minutes during which judges will have the possibility of asking questions about the topic being discussed at that time in order to clarify the topic and the teams will have 2 minutes of protected conclusion time. After that, a four minute question and answer period will be given.
All of these changes serve to raise the competition level and we are looking forward to seeing the 2.0 Cases in action in January 2013.
Hi and welcome!
